v 1.7.3.1 compiled by Arlindo da Silva (GSFC/NASA) -- Thanks Arlindo Wgrib.exe was compiled using gcc from the cygwin system. No optimizations were used. This version is for win95+, and winNT+. Advantages over the MS-DOS version: o long file names (vs 8.3 of the DOS version) o DOS support is disappearing with newer windows releases Advantages of the MS-DOS version: o works under MS-DOS and windows 95/98/NT (ME/2000/XP not tested) o doesn't need a dll To install: Make sure the file wgrib.exe and cygwin1.dll are on your path. To run: 1) open a prompt window 2) type: wgrib (options) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: This version of wgrib may have issues with file names that have two or more periods in the file name. Some people have had problems (other have not). Sorry I don't have any more details. Background: Some version of windows (old) would not allow two periods in the filename.
