Warning: The gribw library is in the alpha testing stage. You are welcome to try it out and send me comments. Alpha means that things may or may not work. In addition, the interface may change drastically between revisions. (In case you are looking for the code, you have to ask for it while it is still in alpha testing.) The gribw utility (wgrib^-1) is stable and isn't causing any problems. Until there is more practical experience, the code remainins in beta testing. The code, as usual, is not waranteed to be fit for any purpose what so ever. Use at your own risk. Want to use alpha code -- you must be ready to laugh in the face of danger. 5/98: The gribw library has been given to two alpha testers. After a spin-up period, they've given me no feedback. I guess they are having no problems. I've been using the library for my own purposes and it works for me. The main reason the code is still in alpha is (1) poor documentation, (2) GDS only supports lat-lon and polar stereographic grids and (3) not enough varied usage. The code is, IMHO, not buggy but not as full featured as a "production" version should be.
