Ozone CORe output includes ozone; however, 99% of the people should not use it. CORe does not assimilate any ozone measurements. Ozone from satellites are not used, and in situ ozone measurements are not part of our conventional observation data set. The CORe ozone is based on model sources, model transport of ozone and model parameterizations of the ozone sinks. The parameterizations are a more advanced version than used by GFS v15 because one of the principals (JW) wanted to use a new ozone parameterizations that he was developing. The CORe ozone shows the effects of atmospheric dynamics have on the ozone. Changes in atmospheric chemistry? Chemistry is not in the model. Changes in the ozone sources? Do you think that a 1950-present dataset of the ozone sources exists? How realistic is the changes from atmospheric dynamics? It's probably dependent of the prescribed sources of ozone and parameterization of the ozone sinks.
