Dear Colleagues, 

This is to announce the update of our pentad CMAP 
(CPC Merged Analysis of Precipitation) data set. 

The current version of the data set covers a 
38+years period from pentad #01 of 1979 to    
pentad #36 of 2017. 

The analysis is the same as in the previous release 
for the period from Pentad #01 of 1979 to Pentad
#42 of 2016;    

You may get the compressed ASCII data files along with
a document file through ftp:  

        ftp ftp.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov  
        name:  anonymous 
        passwd:  (your e-mail address) 
        cd /precip/cmap/pentad  
        get cmap_pen_v1708_yy.txt.gz    (data file for year yy) 
        get cmap_mon_v1708.doc.gz       (document)

Please check the above mentioned ftp site for updates
and extensions of the data set.
