Originally produced once a month on the third Thursday of each month, but changed to twice a month in June 2007, with the Outlook produced on the first Thursday each month in addition to the third Thursday. Forecast applies to all of the United States plus Puerto Rico. Purpose is to present a general picture of the overall drought tendency during the valid period. This is designed for a non-technical audience and is not designed to be a scientific contribution.
